Used BMW M2 for Sale in Phoenix

Last updated April 2026By Akash Chhabra, Owner

The BMW M2 is the smallest and most driver-focused car in BMW's M division. It has been built in two generations: F87 (2016 to 2021, turbocharged inline-six, 365 to 444 horsepower) and G87 (2023 and newer, twin-turbo S58 inline-six, 453 horsepower). Every M2 is rear-wheel drive, two-door, and available with a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission.

The Smallest and Most Focused BMW M Car

The BMW M2 is the smallest and purest car in BMW's M division. Compact proportions, a short wheelbase, and an inline-six engine make the M2 the closest modern spiritual successor to the E30 and E46 M3 — cars that built BMW M's reputation on driver engagement over raw numbers.

The F87 M2 (2016 to 2021) used a turbocharged 3.0L inline-six — the N55 in early cars, upgraded to the S55 in M2 Competition (2019+) and M2 CS (2020+) trims, making 365 to 444 horsepower. The G87 M2 (2023+) uses the S58 twin-turbo inline-six shared with the M3 and M4, producing 453 horsepower.

Arizona Elite Motors regularly stocks M2s including F87 Competition, CS (widely considered the best driving car BMW M has built in the past decade), and new G87 cars. Manual transmission cars are available on both generations — rare in the modern BMW M lineup.

FAQ

BMW M2 Frequently Asked

What engine is in the M2 Competition?

The F87 M2 Competition uses a twin-turbo 3.0L S55 inline-six making 405 horsepower, the same engine family as the F80 M3 and F82 M4.

Is the M2 CS better than the M2 Competition?

The M2 CS adds 39 horsepower, carbon-fiber hood and roof, adaptive suspension, and Michelin Cup 2 tires. It is widely considered the best driving car BMW M has built in the past decade.

Does the G87 M2 come with a manual?

Yes. The 2023+ G87 M2 is available with a 6-speed manual transmission or an 8-speed ZF torque-converter automatic.

Is the BMW M2 reliable?

Both F87 and G87 M2s are considered reliable when properly maintained. Key items include oil services at BMW's recommended interval, cooling system maintenance, and differential fluid changes. S55-engined cars benefit from valve cover gasket service around 70,000 miles.

M2 vs M3 — which is better?

The M2 is smaller, lighter, and more focused — a pure driver's car. The M3 is bigger, more powerful, and more practical with four doors. For track and back-road driving, the M2 is often preferred. For daily use with family, the M3 wins.

Can the M2 be tuned?

Yes. Both the S55 (M2 Competition/CS) and S58 (G87 M2) respond well to ECU tuning. Stage 1 tunes typically add 50 to 80 horsepower on stock hardware. With bolt-on intake, downpipes, and a tune, 500+ horsepower is achievable.

Does Arizona Elite Motors carry modified M2s?

Yes. Arizona Elite Motors stocks tuned and modified M2 builds when available, including CS examples and ECU-tuned Competitions. Call (480) 866-8000 for current inventory.

How much does a used M2 cost in Phoenix?

Pre-owned M2 pricing ranges from the mid $30,000s for higher-mileage F87 base cars to mid-$60,000s+ for low-mile M2 CS examples and new G87 cars. Current inventory is displayed above with transparent pricing.
